Moissanite is a superhard material with a hardness of 9.25 which is slightly lower than diamond. The refractive index is slightly higher than diamond (2.648~2.691), and the dispersion is also good (0.104). Synthetic Moissanite is one-tenth the price of a diamond and is therefore considered a good substitute for diamonds.
